2016 is over and I felt like going through all the photos I took this year and finding a few of my favorites! They are in a loose chronological order and there isn't any real reason why any got picked except I just really love these photos.
One of my first shots of 2016. This was a promo done for Shatterproof's EP Paper House release.
I went to SXSW for the first time this year while on tour with Racing On The Sun, Empra and Gabe Kubanda. I took this portrait of Sanny Veloo of Empra and the expression and light made this one of my favorite portraits of all time.
The streets of SXSW are insane and packed with people 24/7. I had some time to walk around and shot this photo of a street drummer. I love this shot but it never got shared.
Tj Wessel walking off stage after a show at the Marquis Theater. I dig the expression and body language.
This was taken somewhere in Michigan while I was on tour with Shatterproof. We woke up on the other side of Lake Michigan at sunrise and had breakfast at a little diner. The weather was perfect and the water was warm. Really great day.
Explored a lot of new citys on a skateboard this summer. This was somewhere in Michigan I think. The guy on the moped came up next to Ben and told him to grab on and he cruised down the street for a bit!
I finally got to shoot Warped Tour this year and it became my favorite festival of the year to shoot. I'm not sure why, but I was just really happy with the photos I got that day. Something really clicked and it was one of those moments that I felt my art take another step forward.
Unreleased shot of Emarosa at Warped.
Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die at Warped. I seriously love this shot.
Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die at Warped.
Unreleased shot of fans at Warped. I can't remember what set this was taken during.
Crowd surfer at Warped. Thanks to Facebook, I was able to find who this chick was and send her the photo.
Did some lifestyle photos with Mitch Hoog and an old Ford truck. Another moment during the year I felt my work processing. Looking forward to doing more of this work next year.
New West Fest 2016 was insane. I shot all three days and a show after day two. I even managed to do some promos with In The Whale before their NWF and Hodis sets.
I got really lucky and caught this stick flip during In The Whale at NWF.
Eric of In The Whale crowd surfing mid set.
I'm pretty sure this shot of Branson never got released. The amount of photos that never get shared is kind of crazy. Blog full of unreleased shots someday? Maybe....
Shatterproof filled Linden St. during their NWF set. Shooting shows with that much energy is really inspiring and way to much fun.
This was the first time I shot at the Pepsi Center. What a crazy fun show. Marilyn Manson and Slipknot. Favorite shot of Manson. Something about it just makes me feel like it really captured him.
Unreleased image of Mick Thompson of Slipknot. They were so fun to shoot.
Shot of a fan during A Day To Remember. Happy fans fully into the show is whats its all about.
Ben warming up before a Moxi set. Got a little creative and just dug how this one turned out.
Ben got us all hooked on Penny boards. They are perfect for tours. So we did some lifestyle photos for them.
Last but not least, neon portrait of Branson. Ended the year working on some new looks which gets me even more excited to keep creating more work next year.
